Ramblings

So I thought I would just blog about what's been going on with us lately. Last Friday we had our 2nd baby appointment, which had to be reschedule. Our doctor had to go deliver during her appointments and was 11 patients behind! Phew, they said maybe an hour wait... I'm guessing 2.5 hours. So we rebooked rather than waited. We were pretty disappointed as we wanted to see the baby on the ultrasound again and hear the heartbeat. Oh well, less than 2 weeks we go back.

I'm on the tail end of my 1st trimester. The baby is about 3 inches long.. the size of a nutter butter covered in chocolate..OK, it doesn't have to be covered in chocolate, but isn't everything better that way? Finally the baby looks recognizably human... the first 10 weeks my mom was pretty creeped out by the widget photos on our page.

Yesterday we celebrated our 2 year anniversary and went to dinner at Tempanyaki. I've had that place in mind for weeks so I've been craving it. Plus I've even been able to hold down a bite of food lately... which is always good news. Next month we set sail on our cruise. I'm so excited! I consider it a late anniversary celebration.

We're also looking at getting a puppy. Take a guess which breed? We thought about waiting until we buy our house in the fall.. but we'd like to have it all trained and ready when the baby comes. This way they can grow up together and bond really well.

And also we've had to face the sad reality that our baby will have to go to daycare after 6 weeks of birth. But instead of waiting until last minute... we've been doing our homework on finding the best place for our baby. And we're set on the Child Development Center at Hill AFB. Nationally accredited and also high standards of military rules and regulations. Many of my friends have taken their children there and loved how well they cared for their children and them. Since Josh and I are one of the lowest priorities were registering this week in hopes that they will have an opening at the end of August.

So that about sums it up for now...

I think Josh will get a puppy that eats like a horse and poops like an elephant. Am I close?

That's too bad about daycare. I bet if you make it top priority you can wiggle things around to be able to have someone home with him/her- change work schedules/ find alternate source of income/ go without a cell phone and eat lots of mac n cheese... It's the greatest thing on earth to be there when your baby just watches a bug crawl across the carpet and you can see the wonder in his eyes, or when he finds those illusive toes for the first time, and to be able to kiss those little fat hands whenever the urge arises. You'll never regret a minute you spent with your kids, but you might deeply regret the minutes you don't. Just something to think about. The feeling is indescribable when you see that your child knows you're always there to care for him and comfort him and answer his questions and assure him and teach him things. I think the level of security it gives your kids to be home with them is always worth the cost. Living simply is an adjustment, but it makes you so happy. Kids require so many sacrifices, but the rewards are so great. Over all, living in a small house with no cable and eating every meal at home is nothing compared to the time with your babies! And in the end, it's all about doing what's best for them, huh. Hang in there. You'll be a great mom, and heaven knows there's no topping Josh in the Dad department. He loves children so much. Watkins men are incredible like that. Love you guys! Good luck!
