Royce Jade Watkins

Royce was born June 30, 2009 at 9:05 am at Ogden Regional Hospital. It was a pretty easy labor and from the moment I started pushing she was born an hour labor. I have to admit this was a pretty easy pregnancy and labor. I'll write more about the labor story when I'm home and less tired. We get free wifi at the hospital that's how we're able to post these so quickly.

Daddy's little princess

We both look so exhausted- but we're happy and excited that she's finally here to play.

Josh says she has the watkins feet

Wide eyed

She's managed to scratch up her face pretty good so far

Cowabunga Bay

Today we ventured to the new waterpark in Draper- we got there at 10 am- and the way it works is you can either buy a 4 hour chunk or an all day pass. Bad part is anyone over 48" is an adult price- that's every single one of us, even Kaeley- I was pissed off at the lady- I'm like she's only 6 years old!!!! That didn't go over well. It was nice from 10-12 because hardly anyone was there, but by 12 it started getting packed. I could just imagine going on a Saturday- we picked Sunday for a reason... typically Sundays are less crowded everywhere in Utah because alot of folks go to church- which is nice.

What a fun place- kids says this place is better than Cherry Hill and they wanna go back again!

I know I'm terrible- I make them pose for a picture when all they wanna do is get wet

I had to take a picture in case I have this baby in the next few days! My appointment on Friday the Dr. told me I was 80% effaced and 1.5 dilated... we think she'll be here by next weekend. So here's to 37.5 weeks. And my belly button did pop out! Turkey's done!!!!

Blogging

So I thought I would blog and give an update on what’s going on lately. Nothing too exciting or new; we’re now at 37 weeks… so 3 weeks to go. But my hunch is telling me she will be here in 2 weeks. Wow, 2 weeks- how exciting! I know women are going to hate me- but I haven't gotten one stretch mark this entire pregnancy- no diabetes or gross veins and most importantly no excess fat weight that I'll have to spend 9 months trying to burn off. After she's born I should walk out of the hospital weighing less than before I got pregnant. How does that work exactly? lol. So as I’ve mentioned before I’m going to take 2 months off of work. Josh will take the first week off that she comes home and then sporadic days here and there. I’m sure there will be a lot of mornings he’ll just be too tired to go in. My best friend is flying out the end of July to see Royce, she's like Royce’s aunt since I don’t have any sisters and neither does she. And then my parents are coming out mid August to see their first granddaughter! My mom is thrilled to say the least. Still haven’t gauged my Dad- but I think he’s pretty excited because he created a facebook account and spoke about me being married and having our first baby, so that sounds like a proud dad and grandma. I had a funny dream about Royce the other night, she was in the nursery as a newborn and she was throwing things at the other babies. How does a newborn even have the skills to be able to throw? I think it just solidified my fear of her terrorism :)

I was checking over my degree progression the other day and doing an audit of where I’m at, what classes I need to take and my projected graduation date. As long as I don’t take any time off I can expect to graduate with my bachelors October 2010. And the best part is I haven’t spent or loaned out a dime to pay for this degree. Another reason why I’m a huge supporter of the military and now with the new G.I. bill it’s better than ever, I think everyone who is capable should do at least 4 years in the service. We will definitely be encouraging our kids… they will only have two options though. Full time college or the military.

My youngest brother Jordan, who is about to be 20 years old, is joining the coast guard full time. He leaves July 5th for basic training in Cape May, New Jersery. My other brother is a coast guard reservist out of Westport, WA. The coast guard is only accepting 3,000 active duty people this year. So it was really competitive to get in. I hope he gets stationed somewhere cool- like Guam- so we can visit of course. Key West would be nice too…

Josh (and Caleb) bought a little gyro plane recently, I’m sure you’ve seen the pictures and read his posts. He is just like a little kid in a candy shop- happy as can be. And I’m happy for him too- he has talked about flying since I met him. I just told him we need to buy a 2 seater or better yet a Cessna.

Our puppy is doing well, I don’t write about her too much anymore. She’s just blended into the family quite nicely. She’s still really crazy when the kids come down because she’s not used to seeing them. In her mind she is bigger than them and higher in the pack. I’m really curious to see how she will act around the baby- I’m assuming different because she will have daily interaction with the baby unlike she has now with the kids. Also I think she will sense the baby is mine and since Mishka loves me the most (hehe) she will probably adopt a similar attitude towards the baby knowing how much the baby will mean to me… these are my assumptions at least.

More gyro pictures

So these are for Matt, who called me up and said I was a jerk for getting this.. I pulled it out of the garage so it was easier to see. Lace, Dad and I went to the Rotors Over the Rockies airshow down in Fairfield this morning. I was hoping to get Dad a flight in a 2 seater, but the weather wasn't that good so they weren't taking any flights. I'm gonna have to get Dad a flight later.

Royce's Nursery

Today we had our last ultrasound appointment and I'm happy to report that she's still a girl! She is also head down and my cervix is thinning- but no dilation. Everything looks great on the ultrasound and Josh got a glimpse of her face and thinks she already the most adorable little girl. But what dad wouldn't say that about his daughter :)

We worked tonight to finish up her nursery and get everything hung- I'm really happy with it. We decided to not get a changing table and instead just change her in her bed, floor... wherever really... Josh has talked about making a changing table station that sat on top the dresser... if we decide we really need one than we'll go ahead and either buy one or have him make it. Because of the size of the room we've literally ran out of space. We were planning on putting a nightstand next to the rocking chair but we feel it would just be too cluttered if we did that. With that said enjoy the pictures. I have a 3 minute narrated video for you mom but it was seriously taking FOREVER to upload like an hour and it wasn't even done... so I scraped that. I'll try again later or email it to you.

Special thanks to everyone who helped buy Royce things.
Lisa and Greg for the crib and the cute clothes up in Washington
Mom for the rocking chair and all the little things you've been sending these past few months- also the great baby shower you hosted! We had a great turn out and you did an awesome job with all the decorations and food
Nancy and family for the blankets, bath items and dress
Katey for putting together the baby shower here in Utah, diapers, play pad and everything else
Tressa for the pack and play
Janine for all the clothes, toys, diaper bag... everything! Bought your plane ticket yet?

It would take me forever to name everyone but even if I forgot to mention you I didn't forget your generosity. So thank you again.

28 Days to go

Who knows... maybe even less..

I've made a HUGE dent in her nursery. It's coming along fabulously. Josh put her dresser together today.. we just need to hang some things and then I will take pictures and post them.

Tomorrow we have another ultrasound... our last one. I'll write more about later...

So here's me at 36 weeks...

New Flying Machine!

So first off, I don't have a death wish, instead I have always want to learn how to fly. With that in mind I would like to introduce Caleb and I's ultralight gyrocopter. Its a Bensen M8-B that was built some time back and is considered the first ultralight design for this style of aircraft. It looks like a helicopter and operates in a similar way. The lift is created as air passes through the rotor blades and it is pushed by a 4 cylinder 2 stoke motor. It is considered the safest ultralight design because if the motor stalls the aircraft coasts to the ground like a parachute . I still have to get a new set of rotors before I can fly, but even Dad is excited to fly. You should have seen his face when we unloaded it from Grandad's ole Chevy. He was like a little kid. When he got to my house he climbs into the bed of the truck and sits down on the seat and starts playing with the controls. He was asking all sorts of questions, it was funny to see him like that. He has claimed dibs on the first flight, but I'm taking it out first. Katey has threatened my life if he gets hurt flying and mom has banned him from even trying it... I don't think he will listen to them. The gyro needs a little work so I dont expect to be flying anytime soon unless I come across some more money...
