Picnic

Today we packed a picnic and headed to Layton park. We packed bubbles, Frisbee, bikes, kites and chalk. We ended up picking up another addition on the way, Lexi, which made the girls even more happy because they had someone else to play with.

Feeding the ducks... I think they're overfed though

Sidewalk chalk... cute ;)

We brought the girls bikes- but only Breanna rode around

The girls said flying kites was the highlight of their day

Man's best friend
Breanna did another poster this year for the Arbor day project. She placed 3rd this year! Higher than last year. Good job Breanna :)

We baked cupcakes for the park and grandma and grandpa

Mishka Graduation

Our baby puppy graduated last Thursday from 8 weeks of puppy training classes. She now can successfully perform all the basic commands (sit, stay, lay, etc). She is also very social with other puppies and kids, we regularly take her to the dog park to be around other dogs and people so she develops good social skills. We're very glad we have her in our family.

Back Flips

So the little one is definitely moving around in there! Now that the movements are becoming more regular I can definitely say these are the same movements I felt weeks ago but wasn’t sure of. It feels like she’s doing flips in there, and I think she should go for it. It’s hard to do flips so freely once out of the womb (unless you’re in a pool or something). A new semester of school started up again and Josh is (after about a year) back in school full time. Since we’re both pursuing the same degree we take all the same classes, well as many as we can together. I have completed some that he hasn’t. We like that we can spend more time together, help each other with homework and save on text book costs! I’m debating if I should still sign up for full time classes come summer semester when the baby is scheduled to make her appearance. I think I can still do it, even if I take a week off of school to deliver her… but I’m worried I might overwhelm myself and fail all my classes. I’ll be like Sarah Palin, deliver my baby and be back to work in like 3 days, haha! No way! But twice a week for a few hours at night to complete school seems manageable.

Clean House

So I realized the other day that we only have about 4 months until our baby girl arrives! That doesn't seem very long, I'm so excited to see what she looks like and get to know her personality. Josh and I are pretty used to it being just us most of the time so we've been stepping it up on the dates and quality time. Last night we went to Tucano's at the gateway in SL, it's a Brazilian restaurant. We had plans to go to the comedy club at 8pm but we got into the restaurant quick and were done eating quick and still had two hours! We're both early birds so we decided to go to a movie instead becuase we didn't think we could stay awake long enough to make it to the comedy club and enjoy it. We're in for a shock....

So I'm watching this show "Clean House" and I just can't believe how cluttery people are. I'm the exact opposite- I hate clutter so much I will accidently throw important things away while clearing away clutter. These people are so extremly messy though- I feel sorry for the children that are forced to live with their slob parents. And then when the creators of the show ask them to give up things they dig their heels in the ground and get all upset over it... for example....this one lady had over 20 stuffed animals and she was in her mid 30s... maybe keep a couple ... but she didn't want to part with any.

Anyway, it's Sunday... work resumes tomorrow.... a new semester of school starts tomorrow.... I should just enjoy all the down time I have today but I'm bored and Josh is sleeping like a baby on the couch... the pup is cute though! She plays soccer :)

For our daughter, lol

LOL, I love this shirt for our daughter! And now that all the important people know the baby's sex I can officialy say we're having a girl (unless they come back and say it's a boy) but we're gonna stick with girl!

New pics of the kids

I haven't posted any pics of the kids lately because we haven't seen them in about a month! Our cruise interrupted with our last weekend we were supposed to have them. Anyway they came down this weekend. On Saturday the girls wanted to get all "pretty" for the day... we got the jewelry out and curled their hair... they put on my perfume and found some cute clothes.

Tressa and Caleb came over Saturday night and played apples to apples with us and then read the kids a bedtime story.

Saturday we went and saw "Inkheart" at the Kaysville Theater. Breanna's favorite part was when he taught the boy the dragon's breath (blowing fire out of your mouth and hands).

Kaeley did puzzles with Dad. Notice her tooth missing- it's her first missing front tooth. Mishka is also losing teeth. Sometimes I find them on the carpet.

Breanna found a little island by the creek out back and have been playing Indians with Dallen and Kaeley. They have been using their imaginations to create bow and arrows, fishing poles, and graves. They gave a dead bird a proper burial by the creek (ew) and a cross for a headstone.

Baby 21 weeks

So the last pictures I posted were of me at 19 weeks... here is 21 weeks... overall I still haven't gained much weight. During the first trimester I lost about 8 pounds and have yet to get back up to the original weight I was before I got pregnant

But the baby is growing and is healthy so that's all I care about

I hope my belly button doesn't pop out... is there a chance it might not?

Why the debate is irrelevant

So I’m 21 weeks pregnant and a couple days and I’m not sure if I’ve felt the baby kick. I read how some people feel kicks at 13 weeks, but that’s usually not with their first child. I’ve googled a lot about when I should feel it, and maybe some insight into how I’ll know. I probably have felt it but mistaken it for something else. Sometimes, on occasion, I will get a sharp pain in my side. Could that be it? I’m waiting for that very distinct moment when I can say with certainty, “That was the baby!”

Today and throughout this weekend I will be on a hunt for maternity (or larger) clothes. Yes, my normal clothes are getting tighter to the point where it’s no longer fun. If I wanted to I maybe could squeeze another week out of them, but I’ve made it this far without needing them so now I think it’s time to throw in the rag and start.

I’d also like to share some thoughts:
The debate has been going on for decades now, between stay at home vs. working moms and we should all agree that it is an irrelevant one. It is high time that we agree upon the fact both can be wonderful mothers if they want to.

We must leave behind the narrow-minded attitude that the working mom is better as she bring financial stability to the household or that the stay at home mum is more prolific as she is always available to her family.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both sides of the coin and hence after the never-ending debate, we are again brought to the very same starting point. Since time began (well maybe not that far back) there have been mothers that did nothing but devote themselves to home and family while others went out to help earn a living. The situations always vary and one choice is not right for all people. The decision of staying home or going back to work is a difficult and personal one. Often stay at home mom's not only wanted to be with their babies when they were experiencing those precious firsts but when they did the math it didn't add up.

There shouldn't even be a debate about whether to become a working mom or a stay at home mom. It's one of the most difficult and personal decisions that will ever be made in a home and it should stay that way. The mother and her family are the only ones that know what is best for them and what they can make work. Either decision should be supported instead of being mocked by those that don't agree.
